Welcome

Apologies, much of this website is still under construction, we just wanted to put up what we have so far and add to it when we can. New pages and content should be online soon. For the moment we recommend you use the links in the highlights column, as all the links it contains are currently online.

Welcome to justiceforinglis.org. This website has been set up by members of the family (with input from Frances) in order to inform the public of the true facts, and to dispel many of the errors and inaccuracies surrounding the story of Frances and Tom Inglis.

We have four main objectives. They are:

1) Get Frances "Frankie" Inglis out of prison as soon as possible. She has been incarcerated in high security since the 21st of November 2008, and at present, the earliest date she will be able to apply for parole is the 21st of November 2013. As she is serving a life sentence, it is probable she will serve much longer.

2) We want the truth as to what happened to Tom Inglis on the 7th of July 2007. There needs to be a fully independent investigation and the people who were responsible must be held accountable for their actions.

3) We want a change to the method (we are referring here to the method only) used in "Bland's Law" , so that future people who end up in Tom's condition can have a way out which doesn't involve them being slowly dehydrated to death (generally 10-14 days for an inactive person). It is immoral that people should have to suffer such a horrific death simply in order to satisfy the law.

4) We want to see a change to the London Ambulance Service (LAS) capacity tool guidelines, (see Tom's Accident 07/07/07) so that it contains safeguards against LAS staff lying to and threatening patients, that they will use the capacity tool to force them to go to hospital, when the patient does not qualify and that if LAS staff do abuse such powers, that they at least face some form of punishment, especially if the patient is then severely injured (such as extreme brain damage) as a result of their illegal actions.

Petition Letter

Whether or not you agree with what Frankie did, surely any reasonable person must agree that she is no risk at all to anybody. There is no good reason to keep her imprisoned in high security, amongst possibly some extremely dangerous people. She lead an exemplary and productive life. She has not lead a life of crime. The crime she has been convicted of is love. She was and is the most loving mother. Who is she a danger to? Why do the public need such protection from her? As for punishment, there can be no crueller punishment than witnessing such suffering of your dearly loved child. If you believe Frankie should be free, or at the very least moved out of high security prison. You can help.

Please help by printing, signing and sending off the letter.

Highlights

Tom's Horror
Straight after the accident on 07/07/07, Tom had to endure numerous operations to keep him alive. One of them entailed taking away a part of his skull so that the brain, which had become so badly swollen, had room to swell even further. Tom was alive. He was unable to make a single sound, but he was not in a nice, peaceful coma.

Radio Interview
Alex Inglis (Tom's Brother / Frances's Son) speaks with Victoria Derbyshire on BBC Radio 5 Live, on the 21st of May 2010. This interview should give people a good understanding of the overall situation and why Frances had to do what she did.

Current Situation
As Frankie was convicted, she received a life sentence with the stipulation that she serve no less than 9 years. This was later reduced to 5 years on appeal. A second appeal can only ever happen if there is some sort of new evidence, which in this case won't happen because Frances has never denied what she did. She will be eligible to apply for parole in November 2013, but as she is serving a life sentence, she will in all probability serve much longer. Most "lifers" usually serve double their minimum sentence, so she will more likely have her first chance of parole around the end of 2018.

Letter from Frances
First of all I would like to say how much it means to me to receive such huge support from everyone. From my family, my friends, from total strangers - wonderful people - who have taken the time and trouble to send me letters and cards, all expressing their sympathy and condolences about what happened to my darling son Tom.
